Marble is a rock that’s used constantly as kitchen counters, the walls and floors of fancy hotels, and of course, to make creepy naked statues and heads.
Marble quarries are essentially former mountains of marble that people cut massive blocks out of until they’re gigantic, cavernous squares. These places are really strange looking, but also epic and stunning. When they’ve really gotten to work in these things, massive square pillars of marble emerge that look like some sort of ancient Greek platformer video game.
Dive into the quarries, enjoy, and the next time you spill soda on your kitchen counter, remember it has a way cooler origin story than you.
